Oriflame Very Me Happy Glow Lip Gloss

Oriflame

Dear friends

Recently my love for Lip Gloss made me buy this little sweet heart from Oriflame called as “Happy Glow” from the Very Me rage categorized as “Moods Lip Gloss”.
Color: Pomegranate
Shade: Deep Hot Pink
Price: 249/- INR

The Lip Gloss has very fine shimmer in self color and gold. These are like light reflecting particles which adds to the shine. But once applied they are not visible. The Gloss is not very heavy on the Lips and neither too sticky. It stays on for 1-2 hrs after which the color starts fading leaving back a sweet deep pinkish tint and moisturized lips with a subtle glow. You need not apply any lip balm and the lips remain moisturized until you eat or drink.

The Lip gloss gives a very sheer coverage which may be a con for girls with pigmented lips. As for me I apply lipstick to cover the pigmentation marks as my lips are highly pigmented and then apply the gloss.

Pros:
1. Decent color payoff considering that it’s just a gloss.
2. Very good moisturizing effect
3. Not very sticky
Cons:
1. Won’t hide pigmentation.
2. You need a Oriflame consultant for getting their products

Overall: 3.5/5
There is nothing exceptional in this Gloss and nothing too bad either. It’s just a decent product.

Biotique Morning Nectar Lightening Lip Balm

Beauty and Beautiful, Biotique

Hello Friends,

Today I am going to share my experience with Biotique Morning Nectar Lightening Lip Balm. I have a very bad habit that I hardly stick to a single product for long. I feel that the market is flooded with so many good products and I should try them at least once. So after my Lotus lip balm got over my quest for a good lip balm began. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Biotique where most of the products haven’t worked for me but still I don’t know why I keep on trying and testing them. Anyways…

When I saw this little pot on the rack I thought I would pass, but SPF 30 UVA/UVB sunscreen caught my fancy and I picked it.

Company Claims: This anti-ageing lip balm moisturizes and revitalize lips. Fights collagen loss and fills-in creases to smooth out dry lines fo noticeably smoother, younger looking lips.

How to use: Smooth on and around bare lips alone or under lipstick.
Price: 99/- INR for 16 gms

Shelf life:
3 yrs from the date of Manufacture.

Packaging:
Their cute little tub in that old boring green color.

My Experience: I really loved the SPF 30 factor and the claim which says “lightens and protects”. I am sick of my pigmented lips. It really feels embarrassing at times. The color of the balm is of light milky cream colour, with a distinctive smell. But I somehow liked it. However under AC I observed that the balms condenses on the lips and leaves a white cast. And this is one primary reason that this balm should not be applied under a lipstick. I found all my lipsticks giving me a cakey look after application. So first I apply this and after 5 mins remove it with soft cotton ball and then re-apply.
The moisturization affect hardly stays for 1-2hrs and beyond which you have to re-apply else there is a stretchy feeling. But there is one thing that made me fall in love with it and that is it helped me lighten my pigmentation marks by 10%. I apply a thick layer before going to bed and the next morning my lips are soft and with reduced marks.

Pros:
As claimed lightens the pigmentation marks
Moiturizes the lips
Has SPF 30 and UVA/UVB sunscreen
Affordable and easily available

Cons:
Quite heavy in texture.
Constant re-application is required.
Under AC condenses and leaves a white cast.
If applied under lipsticks, it leaves a cakey look.

Rating: 3 (With all the cons it still give a rating of “3” because it had actually helped reducing those ugly dark spots on my lips)

Recommendation: If you have pigmented lips you can at least try during the nights to see the difference.

Makeup Basics

Makeup

Makeup is not to sport a fairer or different look.  It’s just to enhance and bring out the positives of what we are already. God has gifted us with our look and we should accept it as it is and portray it with confidence. If by makeup we try to achieve an artificial look then we may lose out on our self confidence however if we just enhance our beauty and use makeup to accentuate and highlight the positive features and try to camouflage those little scars and dark circles which are a result of improper diet, fatigue, accidents etc, then I feel we can carry our self with more confidence and dignity.

Below mentioned are the few basic sequential steps we can follow to get that flawless look.

Makeup Primer: Helps in smoothing the fine lines and hiding scards. Prepare the face for that flawless look. To be used on a cleansed face before applying foundation. This is an optional step and can be skipped as per choice.

Concealer: In respect to foundation its application is mainly limited to specified areas, like to cover up blemishes, dark circles, dark spots and/or scars to give that even tone. It’s available in various shades as per the skin tone.

Foundation: It’s a tinted cosmetic product close to skin tone, which when applied gives an even tone and helps in covering up the blemishes and dark spots to provide an even skin tone

Compact: its loose tinted powder in a pressed form. It generally comes with a puff required to even application.  A compact actually holds the foundation to give the even toned look and provides the  base for the application of further makeup.  Even this comes in various shades to match our skin tone.

Eye shadow:  Eye shadows are generally used to accentuate your eyes. If you have small eyes then with proper eye makeup we can create bigger and brighter eye effect. As per our wish we can enhance our eyes.

Eyeliner/Eye Pencil:  Eyeliner or eye pencils are mainly used to define the shape of our eye and again with a little trick we can transform our entire look. I feel it’s one of the prime steps of makeup because our eyes attract the first attention.  These days the market is flooded with various shades for us to experiment. However the color selection should be as per the place and situation we have to attend.

Mascara: Generally used to highlight eye lashes to give the open-eye effect. It can also be used on eyebrows instead of an eyebrow pencil.

Blush:  Applied to emphasize the cheekbones.  With proper application we can add a sleek effect to a round look. It comes in two forms-Powder and cream based. Again its application is based on facial structure and colors should be based on skin tone. The shades are mainly nudes, brown, bronze, pink or red based.

Lipstick: Ahh!!!! This is the most important section. We all wish to have those perfect red pout. However only some are blessed but that doesn’t keep us away from enhancing our lips and all because of LIPSTICKs. Every girl will atleast have a lipstick. It has remained a girl’s desire from the Mesopotamian times. No makeup is complete without a Lipstick.

These are the basic steps for makeup and the key trick remains in the art of BLENDING. The better we blend the more natural look we can achieve

Foundation: It’s a tinted cosmetic product close to skin tone, which when applied gives an even tone and helps in covering up the blemishes and dark spots to provide an even skin tone.
